No, I don't mean OB-1 as in Star Wars or anything of the sort. I mean, I love Star Wars. Who doesn't?

Anyway, I was referring to OB-1 as in the cue shaft. I was down at my local pool hall the other day, and a good friend of mine was literally jumping with joy as I arrived. When I asked for the reason for all the excitement, he exclaimed "MY OB-1 SHAFT HAS ARRIVED!". Quietly, I was thinking, so what? The player makes the game. Not the cue. I mean, I know that OB-1 make great shafts, I did my research on that, but it doesn't mean that you're a great player once you have a great cue.

However, I did see a difference with his play. Something had changed. His draw shots were more consistent, and he seemed to be over-drawing from time to time which was a strange thing; since he usually refuses to play draw shots too often. I figured that it was just a state of mind. Good for him.

After a while though, my curiosity had the better of me. I wanted to try his cue with this newfound shaft. "I thought you'd never ask". Boy was I surprised. The consistency of the shot was phenomenal. Not to blow my own whistle, but my draw shot is quite exceptional when I'm in "the zone". But I, (along with a helluva lot of other people) find it extremely hard to draw the cue ball from one corner of the table to the other. The best I could accomplish was about 5"-10" back from the object ball, with the object ball over the pocket, and the cue ball at the opposite corner's respective head string. And I struggled to do that three times. (keep in mind, I tend to play on full size American tables 9' long)

With the OB-1 however, I was able to pull off a longer draw, and more consistently too. It was amazing. Perhaps these things do help one to improve. I guess I have been wanting to get a new cue anyway. Maybe I should just throw in the extra $220USD plus shipping to Australia. I dunno. I guess we'll see.

But I put this to you. Whoever may be reading this post. What do you think about all this kerfufle with cue technology, and all that jazz?

..in a long time.

Whew. It's been a long time since I've posted on a blog of my own. I still haven't decided what this blog would be about, so I s'ppose I'll leave it as a general blog for whatever may cross my mind during the day (or night). Whatever it may be, or whenever it may happen, I'll be sure to try and post my findings on here.
